SAP Launches Next Phase in Distributed Manufacturing Initiative

· On Tuesday, Sept. 20, SAP announced that it has launched the next phase in its initiative to transform industrial 3D printing into a seamless distributed manufacturing process by opening up the program so other companies can benefit from a first-mover advantage. With a growing list of co-innovation customers, SAP and UPS (NYSE: UPS) launched a website today to expand the early phase of the program to a select number of co-innovation customers and partners worldwide to collaborate with SAP to test, validate and improve the model

· SAP and UPS previously announced a distributed manufacturing collaboration to connect the manufacturing floor to the customer door. The solution integrates SAP’s extended supply chain and Internet of Things solution with the UPS additive manufacturing and logistics network.

· Customer participating in an early stage production environment intended to streamline supply chains and get products to market faster and cost-effectively include AP Works/Airbus, FastRadius, HP Inc., Jabil Circuit, Krones, Linear AMS, Moog, Sealed Air and Stratasys.

· Registration for the early adopter program is now open globally through January 2017, and includes Asia and Greater China now served by the expansion of the UPS 3D printing network

· Companies who register for the program can explore distributed manufacturing benefits including reduction in parts inventories, cost-effective short production and prototype runs, quick delivery of parts, and access to 3D printing capabilities.

SAP Ups the Ante for Enterprise Innovation With Updates to Its Platform-as-a-Service

· SAP announced updates to the SAP HANA® Cloud Platform, which includes a range of new capabilities and features to power digital transformation across the enterprise.

· Innovations include a personal edition of SAP Web IDE for offline application development with planned automatic synchronization upon connection to the cloud, a software development kit for SAP®Web IDE to quickly create new application templates as well as integrate partner tools into SAP Web IDE.

· Additionally, open sourcing of the SAP HANA Cloud Platform portal service to enable community-based content and experiences is now available.

· Benefits include: enabling partners to deliver the right development environment to customers, extending SAP Web IDE delivery options with Offline Development, and, enhancing end users’ experience with SAP HANA Cloud Platform, Portal Service
